This happened to me. I got a new computer... but then I booted up my old one in safe mode and did a system restore to Thursday (the day before Service Pack 3 was released) and it seemed to have worked. Hope you can get your computer fixed!

Yeah, It doesn't boot in safe mode but I've got some stuff at work I can try. But I was hoping to fix it today!

It wasn't the one I gave you because I was getting BSOD was it? If so that kinda indicates some sort of hardware failure.

I never had an XP disk for that one, I had to create a restore disk myself which you should have with it - we've had a look at home and it isn't here.

What happened to the disk you used when you installed XP onto it (or the one that I gave you if it isn't the one with the problems)? You said you got that from work or something?

Yeah, I think it might be hardware failure after all. And yes I have the restore disk - but as I am using a new hard disk it doesn't have the files to restore. Besides I'd like to get my previous install working.

Yes, I have got a disk from work - I'll use my bought vaild license number (of course) and I'll be working on it tonight. I brought the wrong CD back on Friday - just the service pack rather than the actual OS install disk.

A repair windows from the windows install cd from work worked. The 5 hard drive wonder is up and running. Although it looks rather like its guts are falling out at the moment. It does pack back into the case fine though....
